Monte Argentarios Colours

Monte Argentario is a penisula near to Grosseto, south Tuscany. The peninsula is connected with the mainland by three spits of land, The whole coastlines, the promontory and the villages are enchanting and full of history, many famous writers wrote about this municipality and many artist used to spend their time there to get inspired by the landscapes.
The painter Michelangelo Merisi, known as Caravaggio, died of a fever ate the beach of "Feniglia", Porto Ercole in 1610.
Pozzarello is the first beauty you can reach when you drive to the penisula in direction of Porto Santo Stefano, just after crossing the first road between the Giannella Beach and the Lagoon of Ponente
The Mulino Spagnolo is situated on the southern slice of earth connecting the penisula to the mainland through the village of Orbetello,. It was one of nine mills built when Orbetello was part of the Sienese Republic. In the mid-17th century, Spaniards took over and turned Orbetello into the capital of a tiny garrison state called Stato dei Presidi. They also restored the wind mills that were used to grind wheat for the people who lived in the city, so they could be self sufficient in case the garrison was occupied by hostile forces.
By constructing the mills in water the Spaniards were able to exploit both wind power and hydraulics. So even in periods with no wind, strong currents and a forceful tide would keep the wheels turning. Pretty smart considering that the sails were stationary.
The haven of Porto Santo Stefano with the Panoramic Promontory on the Background gives you wonderful colours
